We’re Still Here. 2025.
Bedsheets, sleepless nights, acrylic.
In July of 2025, ICE committed the biggest raid in the history of Omaha, Nebraska, at Glenn Valley Foods. The thriving Omaha immigrant community has been haunted by fear and uncertainty. Nights were restless, filled with the faces and stories of those taken, and the families left behind.
I transformed that restless energy into a physical form: a mask crafted from my bedsheets, stained by sleepless nights and the weight of worry. The mask embodies the collective trauma, resilience, and presence of my people.
Wearing it, I visited the sites where our community members were taken, capturing photographs as a testament: to grief, to memory, and, most importantly, to survival. Through this work, I assert that we are still here, and we will not be erased.
